Help us tackle the growing wildfire crisis with the latest advancements in AI and IoT
Who we are
The problem: Every minute matters in fire response. As climate change amplifies the intensity of wildfires—with longer fire seasons, dryer fuels, and faster winds—new ignitions spread faster and put more communities at risk. Today, most wildfires are detected by bystanders and reported via 911, meaning it can take hours to detect a fire, verify its exact location and size, and dispatch first responders. Fire authorities need a faster way to detect, confirm, and pinpoint fires so that they can quickly respond—preventing small flare-ups from becoming devastating infernos.
About Pano: We are a 150+ person growth-stage hybrid-remote start-up, headquartered in San Francisco. We are the leader in early wildfire detection and intelligence, helping fire professionals respond to fires faster and more safely—with the right equipment, timely information, and enhanced coordination—so that they can stop a new ignition before it grows. Pano AI combines advanced hardware, software, and artificial intelligence into an easy-to-use, web-based platform. Leveraging a network of ultra-high-definition, 360-degree cameras atop high vantage points, as well as satellite and other data feeds, Pano AI produces a real-time picture of threats in a geographic region and delivers immediate, actionable intelligence.
Pano AI is on TIME's list of the 100 Most Influential Companies of 2025! The Role
Pano is hiring a Senior Process Quality Engineer to support the design, roll out, and continuous improvement of the operational processes that ensure our camera systems and AI-driven services meet high reliability and quality targets at scale. You will develop and implement process controls and verification across product deployment site selection and audits, manufacturing/assembly, installation, and maintenance/monitoring. You will also partner with human-in-the-loop operations to define QA for the alert review workflow and to improve tools, throughput, and accuracy of human adjudicators. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role that requires both process rigor and product empathy — you’ll dive into details while keeping the system-level risk picture front-and-center.
What you’ll do
Own process quality across the product deployment lifecycle: site selection & audits → manufacturing/assembly → installation & commissioning → maintenance & monitoring, as well as human-in-the-loop operations
Develop and maintain process FEMAs, SOPs, installation checklists, and production and installation readiness gates that scale across regions and suppliers.
Implement and operationalize KPIs & dashboards (e.g., first-pass yield, install success rate, MTTR) and use telemetry and ops data to detect process drift or systemic failures.
Support root-cause investigations for process-related failures (incoming defects, installation errors, field incidents); own containment and durable corrective actions and verify effectiveness.
Partner with human-in-the-loop operations: define QA for alert adjudication workflows, design audits for human review accuracy, and contribute quality requirements to tools and SOPs used by operators.
Coach and enable field teams (installers, technicians, ops) with training, checklists, job aids, and feedback loops to continuously improve execution quality.
Work cross-functionally with Operations, Hardware, Software, Customer Success to ensure traceability between process controls, system risks, and verification evidence.
What you’ll bring
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience.
7+ years’ experience in process quality, manufacturing process engineering, field operations quality, or similar roles for products that combine hardware, firmware and software (embedded + cloud + AI).
Proven track record developing and maintaining process artifacts (e.g. FMEAs, installation/commissioning checklists, supplier audits, production readiness gates, and acceptance criteria).
Strong experience running RCAs (root-cause analysis), CAPA/8D follow-through, and proving effectiveness of corrective actions.
Experience instrumenting and using operations/telemetry data to detect process issues and drive continuous improvement.
Hands-on experience with field installs, audits, or supplier site visits — comfortable traveling for hands-on assessments.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to present technical findings and risk decisions to both engineers and executive stakeholders.
Preferred
Prior experience with camera systems, telecom/tower installs, enterprise security cameras, industrial IoT, or telecom infrastructure operations.
Experience designing QA programs for human-in-the-loop monitoring/alerting (operator QA, audit sampling, accuracy KPIs).
Familiarity with test/inspection tools (e.g., handheld test rigs, ICC/ISP verification checks), and data tooling for dashboards (SQL, Looker, Tableau, or Python).
Prior experience building and scaling field operations processes across regions.
