Vice President, Product Design
Overview
One Inc. is evolving its product organization to be more design-led as we scale our insurance payments platform (ClaimsPay, Premium Pay, Property Pay) and consumer-facing experiences like XpressOne. The Vice President, Product Design will own the design vision, craft standards, and team for the Product organization - leading a design team of ~6+ and growing - while acting as a business-fluent partner to Product and Engineering leadership.
This role is as much about commercial judgment as it is about craft. We need someone who can translate design decisions into business outcomes, own the end-to-end customer journey, and remove friction from our highest-stakes experiences - starting with XpressOne and the broader policyholder payment journey.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end customer journey across Product, with direct accountability for reducing friction in policyholder and carrier-facing experiences
  • Lead and scale a design organization (UX, UI, design systems, research), currently a team of ~6 product designers, sized appropriately for a Tier 1 fintech/insurtech SaaS company
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to embed design earlier in the product development lifecycle, with design decisions explicitly tied to business and customer outcomes
  • Establish and maintain a design system / pattern library that drives consistency and speed across squads
  • Represent design at the executive level - influence roadmap and prioritization with a business case, not just a craft perspective
  • Bring external perspective and industry best practices into a team that has largely grown up internally
  • Build design operating rhythms (critique, research cadence, design reviews) that scale with the org
Qualifications
  • 10+ years in product design, with 5+ years in a design leadership role owning a team and a portfolio
  • Demonstrated business fluency - able to connect design decisions to revenue, retention, or operational outcomes, and to make that case to non-design executives
  • Experience in fintech, insurtech, or another high-trust, high-compliance B2B2C environment strongly preferred
  • Track record building or scaling a design function, including design systems and design ops
  • Experience owning a customer journey end-to-end, ideally across both consumer-facing (policyholder) and enterprise (carrier/agent) audiences
  • Strong point of view balanced with collaborative style - able to drive decisions without being prescriptive to the point of stalling teams
