Today, Ledger is an online marketplace, focusing on the securitization of insurance. Insurance securitization has quickly grown to be a $100 billion market but is limited in scope due to opacity and complexity. Ledger is expanding this market to $1 trillion by building a seamless data platform from the policyholder to the capital markets, enabling transparency, and bringing best-in-class analytics and real-time insights to the table. About the Team:

The engineering team is a remote-first team building innovative web platforms, data infrastructure, and developer APIs that shape how users understand and manage billions of dollars of insurance risk
Engineers at Ledger have the opportunity to contribute to every part of the tech stack and greatly influence the technical direction of the product
We constantly work closely with product managers, designers, sales, and domain experts to carefully craft best-in-class customer experiences

On the engineering team, you will

Own the development of new customer-facing features and product experiences end-to-end
Join a team that embraces a strong teamwork approach where engineers work closely together, share best practices, and help each other grow
Build scalable APIs and services that are critical to the functionality of our enterprise customer portals and internal teams
Work closely with product, design, and other engineering leaders to make sure we are executing our product roadmap and building toward our long-term goals
Continue to drive the adoption of strong engineering standards, tooling, and processes that help the entire team scale

About you:

Successful candidates will have the following attributes:

5+ years of experience in full-stack development
You have spent time developing, automating, maintaining, and reviewing frontend and backend code
Proficiency with Typescript, React, Tailwind CSS, and other web technologies
Proficiency with some backend language (we use Python and Django/DRF)
Some experience with relational databases like Postgres
Demonstrated experience building and maintaining modern web applications with great user experience and attention to detail
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a strong track record of cross-functional collaboration
A strong understanding of backend and frontend architecture and paradigms
Passionate about the process and craft of designing and writing quality code
Take pride and responsibility in delivering features or applications end-to-end
Think holistically about systems and services and how they play a role in the bigger picture
Operate with a sense of urgency which includes being highly responsive to cross-functional team members
Thrive in a virtual collaborative environment involving varied stakeholders and subject matter experts
Are nimble and open-minded when it comes to rapidly evolving processes and requirements
Are a proactive self-starter capable of working with minimal help from your teammates while also knowing when to reach out for help to keep moving forward

Beneficial experiences:

Experience working in a scrappy, fast-moving tech environment
Experience with Next.js and Vercel is a plus
Data visualization (e.g. D3.js, vx)
