About Lighthouz AI
Lighthouz AI is automating the back office of freight finance with freight-native AI agents. We help freight brokers, 3PLs, and factoring companies process invoices, rate confirmations, and PoDs in seconds—not hours—by replacing manual audits and brittle RPA with intelligent automation.
Freight is a $10T industry still run on PDFs, faxes, and spreadsheets. Every invoice, PoD, rate con, and NOA has to be manually audited, verified, and cross-checked—costing brokers and factors millions in delay, fraud, and operational drag.
At Lighthouz AI, we’re eliminating that chaos.
We’re building freight-native AI agents that read messy documents, verify critical data, and resolve exceptions in seconds—completely hands-off..
We’re a YC S24 company, backed by top investors, and already working with some of the most forward-thinking brokers and factoring companies in the US.
Now we’re looking for a Founding Engineer to help us scale this engine—fast.
What we’re looking for
You’re a builder at heart—an engineer’s engineer. At Lighthouz AI, you’ll play a critical role in architecting and scaling the core infrastructure behind our AI agents. You won’t just write code—you’ll own systems end-to-end, lead engineering efforts, and work closely with customers on a daily basis to ensure our tech delivers real impact. It will involve travelling to customer’s office to ensure customer success. As an early team member, you'll wear multiple hats—engineering, product, customer success—and help shape both the platform and the company from the ground up.
You should have:
- 5+ years of engineering experience, ideally including time as a CTO, founding engineer, or early senior IC at a high-growth startup.
- Deep understanding of AI/LLM applications, including prompt engineering, building AI agents(tool use), productionizing model outputs
- Proven backend expertise: building distributed systems, APIs, orchestration layers, and infra that won’t crumble at scale
- Experience with cloud infra (AWS preferred), containerization (Docker/K8s), and data infra (PostgreSQL, NoSQL, S3, etc.)
- A builder’s mindset—you’re comfortable owning architecture, code, and the unknown
- Strong product instincts and cross-functional collaboration skills (bonus if you've interfaced with freight, fintech, or enterprise clients)
- Bonus if you’ve worked with:
- LangChain, OpenAI APIs, Computer vision apps
- Invoicing, payments, supply chain, or B2B finance flows
- DevOps, CI/CD, and observability from the ground up
Good to have:
ex-YC founder or ex-YC startup employee
What you’ll own
- Architect and scale our core AI workflow engine (ingestion → audit → resolution)
- Own backend systems powering LLM tools, agent actions, and structured outputs
- Help productize prompt engineering and test/iterate rapidly on agent behaviors
- Co-build data pipelines to train and fine-tune proprietary models
- Lay the groundwork for a world-class eng org: standards, infra, velocity, and team
Why join now?
- Massive, untouched market with painfully real problems
- Early traction and strong pull from industry leaders
- Founders with deep domain + AI experience (ex-Google, Georgia Tech, Progressive, Halliburton)
- Opportunity to shape the DNA of the tech and the team
- Equity upside and influence that comes with being early
